First Place and MVP

Philip's team took first place for the first time this weekend in a tournament in Rose City. We played one game Friday, one on Saturday and then three on Sunday. It was 101 degrees with a heat index of 107. We were able to get Philip into air conditioning to rest a bit between games. When they won their last game they were presented with the first place trophy and Philip was awarded MVP by the umpires for how well he played 3rd base, as well as how well he hit. He hit a home run and a triple during the last game.

Philip had entered into a home run derby contest and came in 2nd place for hitting the ball 179' 5" into the outfield. We've seen hit hit the ball much further but that was still pretty good for a six year old.

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day! We went to IHOP for an early breakfast before church, since we thought Philip's baseball tournament would go until 8 p.m. They didn't win their second game so we finished by 4:30 p.m. Phil brought our smoker over to his Mom & Dad's and smoked two whole chickens for dinner. Phil got a new lawnmower and hunting shirt from me and the kids. Now that we finally have grass in the front yard to cut.

We Have Grass

Our sod was delivered last week and Phil had most of the yard done when I got home from work. I helped him finish laying it out and filling in bare spots. It started to rain after it was finished so in the rain we walked along the seams barefoot to flatten them. I know people driving by must have thought we were crazy walking in rows along our yard in the rain, but the sod felt so good under our feet.

Astros' Team Party

Phil and I hosted a team party at Ci Ci's Pizza to celebrate the end of the season for Philip's Astro Team. We gave out certificates to the kids and to our dugout parents. The parents surprised us by giving Phil a beautiful plaque with all of the players names on it and a gift certificate to Shorty Small's for me.

Homerun Hero

Philip has been playing awesome this year in baseball. I couldn't wait to get better photos of him with the new camera. I got luckily and captured one of his homeruns on video. The season ended on Tuesday with Philip hitting the winning homerun.

Girl Scout Ceremony

Oksana's Girl Scout Troop help a crossing over ceremony for the brownies who were moving up to junior scouts. Oksana is already a junior scout, but she received badges for selling cookies, father/daughter dance, theater and a few others. The cermony was sone at the Old Mill. It is a beautiful place to take pictures. I just bought a new camera with a 30x zoom lense that take extended video. Luckily it arrived in the mail right before we left for the ceremony. So I predict many more posts and photos in the near future.

All Stars

Philip made the All Stars this year. Congrats Philip! He was the only one from his team to make it. His team is called the Sylvan Hills Bears. With just three practices, they entered a tournament this weekend. They played at 2:30 and 5:30 pm on Saturday and crushed both teams. They played again on Sunday at 1:30 and won again- qualifying them to play in the championship game at 4:30. They got beat by a team from Texarkana that has been playing together for over a year. They placed second in the tournament. Great job!

This is his white uniform. He played catcher for most of the game (like his Mama) and also played short stop and center field.

This is Philip recieving his 2nd place medal. #9 was taken, so he picked #10 to wear for All Stars. We told him that's Jadelyn's number (born 7.10.2002). On the way home from the game it rained and then a big rainbow appeared. We also say rainbows are smiles and hellos from Jadelyn. She was congratulating her little brother for playing so well.
