Happy Birthday Nicholas (4/16)

Happy Birthday Nicholas! Hope you had a great time is Disney!

Squirrely Day at Work

One of the perks of my job is that you never know what type of wildlife you may encounter on a daily basis. One of the ladies in my department found an abandoned baby squirrel in her yard over the weekend. She brought it into work and was bringing it to a rehabilitator later in the afternoon. She named him Buddy. He didn’t like his enclosure very much, so I got to squirrel-sit. He ran up and down my arms, shoulders, played on my desk, ate and finally settled in for a nap on my lap.

Easter 2009

Kids woke up and found their Easter baskets overflowing and a note from the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny thanked them for the lemonade and carrot the kids left them. Philip was impressed to see the teeth marks in the carrot stub left behind. The EB even left the Daisy And Tinkerbelle some treats. After finding 45 eggs hidden in the house, ,we were off to church. We normally go to the town Easter Egg Hunt ( like we needed more plastic eggs), but it got rained out.We then went to Grammy & Pop Pop’s house where Pop Pop had hid another 45 plastic eggs for the kids to find. Pop Pop made it a lot harder then the EB did. They got baskets from Grammy & Pop Pop and clothes and toys from Aunt ‘Tine and Uncle David, who were in Disney.

Kids got surprises from Mom Mom and Pop Pop in NJ and Aunt Maria and Aunt Lisa. As Nico put it when Maria’s gift arrived in the mail, “ I love boxes from Aunt Maria!”. They see a package In the mail, the first thing they do is look for their name.

Egg Hunts #2 & #3

I took the kids to an Easter Egg Hunt at a local park with my mother-in-law on Saturday (4/11) morning. My mother-in-law sat with 2 kids while they colored Eater pictures, while I brought the third kid to their age hunt. All the kids had fun. They even did a parent’s egg hunt, so we had the kids sit to the side while me and my mother-in-law ran for Easter Eggs. It was actually fun to act like a kid again! Philip won the coloring contest for best coloring based on age level. He got a box of sport-themes plastic eggs filled with treats. We had to register when we got there—and they drew my name for an Easter Basket.

We then drove the kids to my friend’s church where they throw a big Easter Eggstravagnza every year. They have free hot dogs and cokes, rides and an ongoing Easter Egg Hunt by age group. We ate and then took Philip and Nico for their hunt. They were in the same age group, so they hunted together. When they finished we took Oksana to her hunt. With the hunts out of the way we did the rounds of rides. I took Nico on some kiddie rides while my mother-in-law stood inline with the two older ones for the big kid rides. On our way out the kids got to meet Scooby Doo and Hello Kiddie.

Happy Birthday Alex (4/11)

Tooth Fairy

Philip lost his first tooth Sunday night. He couldn't wait for the tooth fairy to come. She visited him once before when he had 2 molars surgically removed. That was over a year ago and he couldn;t wait to "cash-in" again. The tooth fairy left him $5 for this tooth, but he knows the other tooth that is loose will come at a lower price.

Happy Early Birthday Alex Nicholas

We celebrated my nephews' birthdays at Chuck E. Cheese Saturday afternoon. Alex will turn 8 on the 11th and Nicholas will turn 5 on the 16th. They will be in Disney World for their birthdays and Easter this year. Have fun guys!

Easter Egg Hunt #1

I took the kids to our local library for an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday. I titled this Easter Egg #1 because they'll probably do 3-4 before Easter arrives on Sunday. Do they get tired of them? Not a chance. They got about ten eggs each, but most were filled with a coupon for a free vanilla cone at Sonic. I know where we'll be going a lot this week. When they had found their quota of eggs, they went inside to do some Easter crafts and pick out some books. I love that my kids ask to go to the libary to get books (& movies) even when there is no event going on. If I can pass on my love of reading to them, I'll be a happy woman.

Play Ball

Philip played his first T-ball game of the season on Sunday (3/29). Actually it's part of a pre-season tounament to raise money for the ballpark. He plays on the Tigers with his cousin Nicholas. HIs number? #9 of course--like Daddy. They lost the game but think he still had fun. He can really hit and throw the ball. He's still learning where to throw the ball when it comes to him. We've had so much rain, we've only had a few practices and didn't have much time to cover everything.

Happy Birthday Mom

My mother-in-law got to spend her birthday like most grammy's-- at the ballpark. Philip and Nicholas' team had a game and then Alex had one later in the afternoon. Once the games were over we went back to their house for dinner and cake. Dad made dinner and I was in charge of the cake. Luckily she has a sense of humor!

Prom Night

For my mother-in-law's birthday we got her tickets to B98's "2nd Chance Prom." It was held at the Crown Plaza in LR. We gave her the tickets a couple weeks ago so she had time to get a dress and keep the date open. Her senior year in high school they decided to do a senior class trip to Washington, DC instead of heavng a prom. My mother-in-law and my father-in-law, who were dating at the time, did not get to go to a prom. These are pictures of them before they left. My mother-in-law wore a corsage and my father-in-law had a boutonniere in his lapel. They said they had a great time, came home with goody bags and a gift certificate to a sushi restaurant.

3 Little Pigs at the MOD

We have a family membership to the Museum of Discovery (Thanks to Mom Mom & Pop Pop each Christmas)so we go there quite often. On Saturday they had a free play about the 3 Little Pigs, that had been at the Childrens Theatre. What I like most about it was it wasn;t your traditional story about a wolf blowing down houses. It was a very creative twist about 3 teenage pigs in a bayou jug band. They had cute original songs and spoofs of popular songs. The kids really had fun. Nico ran right up to the girl piggy after the show was over and gave her a big hug. Where was my camera? "Low Battery" was all I got when I tried to snag that Kodak moment. Oh well--you'll just have to trust me they were cute.

Crop Night

Every other Friday night is what I like to call "my sanity." I go to my friend's Scrapbook Store to crop 6pm to Midnight. Sometimes I think after a long week, I'll never make it that late--but I get my second wind when I get creative and enjoy the comradery of my fellow scrappers. These are a few recent pages I've done.
