A Hunting We Will Go

Phil took Philip hunting for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Philip spotted this deer and Daddy shot it. Philip was pretty excited about it.

The next picture is of a buck Phil got last weekend. Needless to say, we have plenty of deer meat in the freezer. Last week it was like FOrrest Gump naming all the ways you can make Bubba Gump shrimp-- because we had Deer roast, deer chili, dear meatballs--etc!

I am studying to get my Hunter's Education card, which you need before you are allowed to hunt. Actually, for my job it counts as a required safety course. I'll take the test the week after Thanksgiving. If and when I finally go hunting with Phil, I'll hunt with a bow. I just need lots of practice!

Thanksgiving Luncheon at School

Every year the school invites the parents to have a "Thanksgiving" lunch with the kids.Unfotunately I could not make it this year. I just started my new job, and don't have any vacation time yet. Phil got to go. He brought Oksana & Philip Happy Meals from McD's-- because my children are not big fans of traditional Thanksgiving foods. I completely forgot to send my camera with Phil to take pictures. A mom of one of Philip's classmates took pictures, and sent them to me. Thanks so much Christi! Philip's class made Indian shirts and were given an Indian name. Their Indian name had the same initials as each child's real name. So Philip's name was "Powerful Zebra". Though if you look at him in the 2nd picture with his class, he looks more like the "Pooped Zebra"-- I think he was snoozing!

Scrapbook Weekend

I just came back from a great weekend of scrapbooking. From Friday night to Sunday afternoon I enjoyed the mountain view, scrapbooking to wee hours of the night, good food and down time with friends. I finished 41 pages and two cards! Sad thing is, I'm still not "caught up"-- but that's not easily done in scraobooking--there is always something to scrap, especially when you have three cute kids! It was even better to come home to hugs and kisses and a clean house! Looking forward to our next trip in February!

Birthday Greetings

Happy Birthday to my nephew Kyle who turned 17 on Saturday. He went to go look at some colleges this weekend, I can't help but think that he was born while I was in my 2nd year at college--- talk about feeling old! Good Luck on your driver's test today!

Happy Birthday to my sister Lisa, who turned ? on Sunday. Let's just say she's 6 1/2 years older than me--so you can do the math. Hope you enjoyed a relaxing day!

Halloween 2008

Halloween is a big deal in my house. My parent's just celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this Halloween, and if that doesn't set the tone for my family, I don't know what does. I'm not saying we're scary--just filled with tricks and treats! Each year, I try to come up with something "different" for the kids to dress up as. I'm a Graphic Artist, so the usual, just won't do.

Oksana was Medusa, the Greek Gorgon who had snakes for hair and could turn a person into stone with one look. Her costume was fairly easy until I had to figure out how I was going to put all of the rubber snakes I bought, into her hair.

Philip was a "Dinosaur Hunter" and was dresses in safari clothes and carried a magnifying glass and a few spare dinosaur bones.
Nico was "Baby Jaguar" from Go Diego, Go! He had the most homemade costume as it was made from a sweatsuit and lots of hot glue.

Every year we go to our town's Halloween Carnival. Oksana has won the costume contest for her age group five times. Unfortunately, this year wasn't one of them. I thought she looked great-- competition was just tough. Philip won 2nd place in his age group for his costume. I'm sure his clowning on stage helped draw attention to him. Nico won Scariest costume in his age group. He didn't look scary-- but he kept growling at the judges.
