Philip's team took first place for the first time this weekend in a tournament in Rose City. We played one game Friday, one on Saturday and then three on Sunday. It was 101 degrees with a heat index of 107. We were able to get Philip into air conditioning to rest a bit between games. When they won their last game they were presented with the first place trophy and Philip was awarded MVP by the umpires for how well he played 3rd base, as well as how well he hit. He hit a home run and a triple during the last game.
Philip had entered into a home run derby contest and came in 2nd place for hitting the ball 179' 5" into the outfield. We've seen hit hit the ball much further but that was still pretty good for a six year old.
